Whether your flight was canceled, rescheduled, or you simply changed your mind, understanding the Southwest Airlines refund policy is essential. In this step-by-step guide, we’ll show you how to get a Southwest Airlines refund, including non-refundable fares like Wanna Get Away.

Understanding the Southwest Airlines Refund Policy

Southwest is known for its flexible cancellation rules, but it’s important to know what is refundable and what isn’t. Here’s a quick breakdown of the Southwest Airlines refund policy:

  • Refundable Fares: Tickets under Business Select and Anytime fares are refundable and can be returned to the original form of payment.

  • Non-Refundable Fares: Wanna Get Away tickets are not refundable but can be canceled for Travel Funds.

  • If you cancel within 24 hours of booking, all fares are fully refundable to the original form of payment.

  • Refunds are also possible in case of flight cancellations by Southwest.

How Refunds Work for Wanna Get Away Fares

If you purchased a Wanna Get Away ticket, you’re not eligible for a direct Southwest Airlines ticket refund. However, when canceled at least 10 minutes before the flight departure, you’ll receive Travel Funds that can be used within 12 months of the original booking date.

These funds are non-transferable and can only be used by the person named on the original ticket.

How Long Do Refunds Take?

  • For refundable fares: Refunds to your original payment method usually take 7 to 10 business days.
