That’s the paradox of modern workplaces: the tools that make tracking attendance easier can also feel like surveillance if they are pushed too far. It is not the attendance management system itself that creates the tension. It’s the way companies use it.
Every HR team knows the appeal of automation. Because we have come a long way from using conventional time tracking practices like using paper registers or Excel sheets. Both had a fair share of problems, like being too slow or messy. Even the so-called sophisticated swipe cards had their flaws. Attendance management software promised to clean all of that up.
